Adam Levine is an American singer-songwriter best known as the lead singer and chief songwriter of Maroon 5.

Levine won notable awards as part of Maroon 5, including three Grammy Awards and three American Music awards.

Modest Mussorgsky was a Russian composer famous for his operas and songs. His operatic masterpiece is "Boris Godunov," about a Russian Tsar who lived in the 1500s.

Elton John is a British artist who was one of the most popular entertainers of the late 20th century. John was awarded a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music at 11. In 1994, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Several of Aretha Franklin's popular singles are now considered classics.

Julia Perry was an American classical composer and teacher.

Julia combined European classical and neo-classical training with her African-American heritage.

This animated video is about Julia's life and music. It will suit younger students. 

27 MARCH is Sarah Vaughan's Birthday

Sarah Vaughan is regarded as one of the greatest of all jazz singers.

Sarah possessed a rich vocal tone and unusually wide vocal range. She was a contralto with a comfortable three-octave range!

Sarah Vaughan was known for the inventiveness and virtuosity of her vocal improvisations. She excelled at song interpretation.

Listen to Sarah singing 'The Shadow of Your Smile' and use MTR's Sarah Vaughan Foldable to make notes of the main points. Suits grade 3-4.
