16 SEPTEMBER is Marc Anthony's Birthday

Marco Antonio Muñiz, better known by his stage name Marc Anthony, is an American singer-songwriter famous for his Latin salsa songs and ballads.

The three-time Grammy Award and six-time Latin Grammy Award winner is also the top-selling tropical salsa artist.

16 SEPTEMBER is Nadia Boulanger's Birthday

Nadia Boulanger was a French music teacher and conductor.

She is widely regarded as the leading composition teacher in the 20th century.

Boulanger had a heavy influence on 20th-century music as her students included notable composers such as Lennox Berkeley, Elliott Carter, and Aaron Copland.

Boulanger was the first woman to conduct the Boston, New York Philharmonic, and Philadelphia orchestras.

17 SEPTEMBER is Hildegard von Bingen Feast Day

Hildegard von Bingen was a German abbess and composer.

Hildegard wrote over 70 musical compositions, each with its own original poetic text.

She is widely regarded as one of the first identifiable composers in the history of Western music.

18 SEPTEMBER is Francesca Caccini's Birthday

Francesca Caccini was an Italian composer, singer, and teacher. When Caccini was 20, Grand Duchess Christine de Lorraine appointed her to sing and compose for the court. Caccini worked hard to gain respect and establish her career in an era dominated by men. Her only surviving stage work, La liberazione di Ruggiero, is widely considered the oldest opera by a woman composer.

Gustav Holst was an English composer and music teacher noted for the excellence of his orchestration and the international flavor of many of his works.

John Coltrane was an American jazz saxophonist and composer.

Coltrane began his career by playing bebop and ended by playing free jazz.

He influenced many musicians and is one of the most important tenor saxophonists in jazz history.

26 SEPTEMBER is George Gershwin's Birthday

George Gershwin was an American composer who combined classical music and jazz to create his unique style.

Gershwin wrote music for Broadway shows, movies, the concert hall, and opera.

28 SEPTEMBER is Ben E. King's Birthday

Benjamin King, known as Ben E. King, was an American soul and R&B singer.

He is best known as the singer and co-composer of "Stand by Me".

As a member of the Drifters, King was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988.
