14 NOVEMBER is Fanny Mendelssohn's Birthday

Fanny Mendelssohn was a German composer and pianist of the early Romantic era.

When we hear the name Mendelssohn, most people think of Fanny's brother, Felix. However, Fanny was a talented musician and composer in her own right and should be introduced to young music students.

She wrote over 500 pieces during her lifetime, including piano pieces, lieder (art songs), chamber music, cantatas, and oratorios.

Fanny Mendelssohn is primarily known for her songs and her "Songs Without Words", small pieces for solo piano.

22 NOVEMBER is Benjamin Britten's Birthday

Benjamin Britten was an English composer, pianist, and conductor.

After studying at the Royal Conservatory of Music in London, Britten got a job writing film music.

He then composed choral music, chamber music, songs, and quite a few operas, including some for significant events in British history.

Britten is renowned as one of the finest English opera composers. His best-known works include the opera "Peter Grimes" (1945) and the orchestral showpiece "The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra" (1945).

23 NOVEMBER is Miley Cyrus' Birthday

Destiny Hope Cyrus, popularly known as Miley Cyrus, is an American singer, songwriter, actress, and television personality. She is best known for her character as Miley Stewart/Hannah Montana in the original Disney Channel Series Hannah Montana.

Scott Joplin was an African-American composer and pianist.

Joplin achieved fame for his ragtime compositions and was dubbed the "King of Ragtime". His famous works are "Maple Leaf Rag" and "The Entertainer".

Scott Joplin was posthumously awarded a Pulitzer Prize in 1976.

Tina Turner is an American-born Swiss singer and songwriter.

Tina was known for her high-energy vocals and electrifying stage presence, and I have been lucky enough to witness this!

Her success, dominance, popularity, and consistent contributions to rock music earned her the title "The Queen of Rock & Roll."

Tina Turner has won eight Grammy Awards. She is also a Grammy Hall of Fame inductee.

James Marshall "Jimi" Hendrix (born Johnny Allen Hendrix) was an American musician, singer, and songwriter.

Hendrix earned legendary status with his mastery of the electric guitar. Although scores of later rock musicians imitated Hendrix's wild, innovative instrumentals, his talent remained unparalleled.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame describes him as "arguably the greatest instrumentalist in the history of rock music".
